this season at Blue Mtn in PA was doing my practice run for a boardercross event, my first run of the morning as well, all i remember is leaving the gate. i'm told i went off a jump and fell hard, got back up went down got on the lift and tried to race again my sister told me no and as i was talking to ski patrol i just passed out mid sentence, the next thing i remember is i'm in an ambulance on my way to the hospital. apparently i got a wicked concussion, while wearing my helmet too, just obliterated myself. yeah that was a fun time but hey i got comped lift tickets for that day so it wasn't all a bust

Yeah I got a couple of stories for you. To start out with, last years reconstruction of my face. Last season I shattered my nose, spider webbed my right orbital (i,e. my eye socket) and cracked my face from my eye to a nerve hole that is found just above your lip in your scull. This hole that is found on both sides of your face lets a major nerve run from inside your scull to the outside and relays nerve signals throughout your upper mouth and each side of your face.
I had just gotten back from a road trip to Mammoth, Tahoe and up to Montana. We decided to get out to Keystone and check the new features in the park. I started my run out taking it easy, but started throwing more as I got towards the bottom of A-51. when we got to the bottom, there was a wedge set up that gapped to a long wide box. The set up looked nice enough to hit so I decided to back one to the other box. As I popped off the wedge and rotated backwards I felt my feet slip out from under me. I knew I was fucked the second my balance was off as my feet just kept moving farther behind me and eventually almost above my head. As I looked down to the box mid air I could see the front rail of it speeding towards my face. The next thing I knew I was sprawled out hanging over the front of the box with my body on top. When I sat up blood was pouring from my nose. I threw off my Crowbars and touched my nose to see if it was broken. It moved under my left eye so I put it back.
After going to the ER I found out that my face was fractured in several spots and they shipped my ass off to Denver for surgery. I spent 3 days and nights in the hospital and had a "guitar pick" and titanium screw inserted under my right eye. they also set my nose that was broken in 5 places. The fracture in my face severed a major nerve that made me lose feeling throughout my upper pallet and the right side of my upper teeth. All of them. It took 7 months for everything to get back to normal or as close to normal as things could get. I still have a strange feeling in my face just to the right of my nose and my top front tooth on the right still feels somewhat numb. I also lost my 20-20 vision. All-in-all, things are as good as they could be considering I didn't have to relearn how to speak or have an infection invade my brain.
This year... lcl, acl, meniscus tare and bone damage in my left leg when I came up 2-3 feet short on the second jump in the big line at Kstone this Feb.

Happy healthy riding...

I broke my radius and got a concusion at the same time. Then a couple weeks later I went snowboarding with my cast and got another concusion and pulled some ligaments in my shoulder. It sucked.

man this season i went for a backside 180 onto a kink and had to much momentum at the kink and slid off and slammed my arm down on the rail and ripped my shoulder apart. just had surgery to reattach the tendons. be out until december. hate to say it but hope the season starts a lil later here in oregon.

I got off so much easier thatn any of you guys that i almost dont want to write it.
I had a rail slam at the beginning of the season last year. Just going up for one of my first slides of the year and caught an edge. fell forward and hit the side of my head and blanked out for a second. "woke "up on the ground with my head hurting. Yes I had a helmet on. Did the contest with a splitting headache and drove home ready to kill my head. then while riding pipe I hit a little rut and felt a little itty bitty tug in my left knee. As I landed in the tranny I felt a burning feeling in my knee that got worse and worse down the pipe. Found out I pulled the tendon or ligament that keeps your kneecap on and it had little rips in it. I got to wear a nifty little velcro brace on my knee for awhile and now its ok. Stretch kids..itll do wonders for you.

I'm finally 100% after multiple broken ribs, strained sides, and so on. Now just to wait for the snow!
