To each his own, I guess. It's hard to say that snowboarding was better five years ago due to the lack of parks, because I was rding park before then. Also, he doen't factor in the culture of snowboarding in areas other than legit mountain resorts. I grew up in Minnesota and now live in Philly . . .the "mountains" there or here don't have the natural terrain that Baker does so I can see why shredders lap the park all day. Otherwise you'd get crazy bored after a handful of runs. I know I do. However, when I travel to the NW, CO, or UT, I usually avoid the park and seek out the stashes that I can't ride on the Ice Coast.

I just wish that the East Coast parks would step up to the Minnesota parks and put in some high speed tow ropes so I can lap the park without unstrapping and waiting in lift lines.

Just have fun snowboarding . . .that's all that matters

gosh who would take the time to do that

It's hard to read sarcasm in writing but I get the impression that he was making exaggerated statements about real issues and I highly doubt he takes it as serious as you would imagine if you just took the words at face value. I think it's pretty clear he's being sarcastic when he made the comment about kids that can't turn but can do rodeos.

well its not true that people cant turn and just do tricks because with my group of friends we ride normal runs and find a fun place and ride it and then if we feel good and are stoked we will ride the park a little. so to me that article is bull

i totally agree. i live in the mountains of alberta and i dont ride park ALOT but still do a couple laps. but i think that all parks should have a t bar or carpet or rope at the bottom of it.

First of all, the article was clearly written a few years ago... My guess is at least 5. Second of all, it was published on Yobeat, who's caption reads "Making fun of snowboarding since 1997".... You *think* they might have a little sarcasm in there? I sure do.

It was kind of a funny rant actually, and some parts were true - I have seen kids that purely hit park and can't carve a powder turn for their life. And I definitely agree it degrades the creative process - why find natural jibs / jumps when they are all laid out for you? That being said though, the quality of most parks these days has aided in the progression of snowboarding, and in turn better gear / better parks at more resorts.

But either way, it was a funny article - some was sarcasm from what I can tell, but most was probably written with the intention to just piss people off and make a stir - which if you read some of the responses it has done a good job of that! Kinda like making a snowboard that says "Powder Sucks" on it... it's all about the reaction, and messing with people :D

I can see where this dudes comin from, I see people just sittin around alot at parks. Im not saying I agree with him, I enjoy the parks.

Although I do not hate snowboard parks, I see exactly where this guy is coming from.

This dude was just some bored ass dude bored with his own lack of creativity. Who the fuck said that snowboarding was limited to snow? And why is skiing limited to snow? Skateboarding limited to skateparks? Basketball to areas? So on - I mean - why is it so wrong to extend a sport beyond certain boundaries? I'll rip up the park and out shred this guy on any part of the mountain.

Guys, we have established that this post is largely sarcasm / cynicism, right? I think the joke is on you if you take him word-for-word.
